First I'd like to thank you, that you've taken your time and replied on my comment, I wouldn't have expected that at all, since I can imagine how
hard you're working because the release isn't very far away...
Probably you're right with all the things you mentioned in your reply, concerning Empire as your product, and you wanting to make it as good as it can even
get, which I know the community, including me, will be happy about, once we realize the hard work you've put into the game... maybe I was overreacting a
The only thing that made me post my comment was, that I didn't quite understand why you don't just release a demo for the community to enjoy... it
wouldn't matter in any way, if the demo wouldn't be an as great experience as the actual game itself! I've spoken to loads of people, especially on
this forum, and I know that they feel the same way as I do. And even if the demo would've been a lot worse, the joy at last would've even been even
Thank you for your reply, and I hope that this game will be as good an experience for you (business-wise) as it will be for me to enjoy!
P.S.: Don't mind spelling mistakes, English is not my mothertoung! :-D
I just wanted to thank you and the team for the awesome products you have given us. I have been a fan of all the Total War games and they
just keep getting better and better. I know a lot of us fans are starting to get impatient on this last leg of development ( me included) and have said some
pretty crazy things, but don't forget there are still a lot of us that appreciate the hard work and time you all take to released not just a
"finished" product, but ( as you have said yourself) a polished one. I cannot wait for the game to release, but I trust to the expertise of the CA
team to make that decision for us. Congratulations early on the highly successful game you have created and I can't wait to see what you guys have up your
Just a quick question... Would the American Civil War be a possible area to explore next in your games?
Thank you for your time,
Reply from TW Rehab: Hi Matthew,
There are a number of possiblities we're looking at for expanding Empire after it's release and certainly the US Civil war is an attractive option.
We'll make an announcement on any possible expansions as soon as the time's right so watch this space! For now though, the priority is getting Empire
finished and into your hands!
Thanks for taking the time to follow Empire's development, it means a lot that you guys watch whats progressing and put your own ideas in.
Why cant you just leave a date for the demo?
Its not enough to use "we want top quality" as an excuse for shipping the game 1 month later! Of course quality is important but I guess that most
people would like to have a not finished and a bit glitchy demo, than waiting another month, only cuz you want to make a good impression with your demo to
persuade loads of people to buy your product...
And another thing that just makes me soo angry: You havent released any other videos than 5 (without one single battle) either! You know how the guys
(including me) are waiting for the game, why dont give us a bit of eyecandy? Is that too much for you?!?! Probably the game and the demo are already finished
and now youre just waiting for the forums to overload till you release it, but I tell you, the community is not on your side!
Think about it!
P.S.: Nothing against you personally Kieran, you seem like a very nice guy, and of course I know that it is hard work to create a game like Empire Total War
and make everybody happy and everything, but I really dont think its too much for you guys to just care a little more for the community!
Reply from TW Rehab: Hi Swordfish,
I can understand your frustration, it comes from wanting to get hold of Empire and play it, I know lots of other people feel that way too. So don't worry I
won't take your more 'enthusiastic' comments to heart!
The long and short of it is that we do indeed make Empire for you, the fans, but we also make it for ourselves. The team at CA have put in thousands of man
hours, years of research and work, weekends and nights into making Empire what it is. Therefore we have the privelage of deciding 'when it's done'.
We expect quality from our games because we understand fans expect it to. So if we feel the demo needs more polish, it needs more polish. It's not hype or
marketing, just development professionalism and a genuine love for our product.
Secondly, to address your point on selling units, I'll be blunt and say yes of course we want to sell units! If a large enough number of people dont buy
Empire, we dont get to make any more games, as well as being critically acclaimed our titles have to be comercially viable, there's nothing evil or
corporate about that, it just means we can carry on doing what we love.
I understand your desire to get at Empire as soon as possible, the wait is almost over and I hope you'll feel it's been worth it.
